There seems to be an endless array of themed Monopoly games. Covering the spectrum from kitty cats and puppies to death dealing aliens these board games have such broad appeal that there’s something for everybody, and that includes your little nerdlings.

This Nintendo version of the popular board game possesses all the iconic imagery associated with the myriad first party games for which the company is famous. Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Peach, Zelda, Link, Samus, Donkey Kong and others all make an appearance in the game. The properties are of course renamed from the mundane Boardwalk or Illinois Avenue into the famous faces listed above. They even have a Piranha Plant property. Community Chest and Chance have been modified into Mario Blocks and ? Blocks.

The money and the metal pieces have also been given a similar treatment. Board games have been pushed to the side of young people’s attentions of late, largely because of the massive emergence of video games. This Nintendo Monopoly is an attempt to tap into the market once more and it’s sure to be a hit with the wee ones. The Star power-up player marker does seem a bit overpowered, though. Should that player be able to land on any property without having to pay up?
