Love 2 Loves

Bugs are fascinating, aren’t they? Somehow, specific kinds of bugs manage to elicit various reactions to different people; some people love one kind of bug, but are afraid of another. Others like all kinds of insects, and some even go to great lengths to collect them. Personally, I’m fascinated by Wooly Bear caterpillars (they’re adorable), but like a lot of people, I can’t stand spiders.
Most kids also love bugs, too. You’d be hard pressed to find a group of kids where none of them want to go outside and hunt for creepy crawlies. Oftentimes, it can be difficult to use these excursions as a learning tool, because unless you’re a bug aficionado, it can be hard to tell the difference between a Pyrrharctia Isabella and a Phocides Pigmalion. To remedy this, try using this Backyard Bugs poster.
This poster has detailed images of over 100 bugs that could be lurking in your backyard right now. Depending on your area, your kids could go out and find these bugs, heading on an adventure to track them down, or compare them to the insects that live where they do. In a pinch, it can also be used as a plain old poster on a wall, but what fun would that be?
