Four of the Coolest Alternative Strollers We’ve Ever Seen
As far as necessary new-parent frumpiness goes, strollers are right up there with minivans. When it comes to the wheels in your life, ‘being cool’ has gone from the top of the list to the bottom. It can now be found right underneath ‘practical’ and ‘economical.’
Remember when your friends were jealous of your stuff? That was fun, right? You’ve long since declared those days over, but the truth is they don’t have to be if you don’t let them. Just because you’re a parent doesn’t mean you have to do what your parents did. Go ahead: reclaim that coolness.
Of course, what with this being Nerdy With Children and all, coolness is relative. What’s cool to us has got to be a little on the fringe. That’s why we’ve rounded up our fave alternative strollers: They’re nerdy and a little weird, but that speaks to us. Strap in your kid and feed your inner geek.
If you think drifting and sliding don’t seem to go hand in hand with babies, it’s time to open your mind to the awesomeness that is the Longboard Stroller.
We love when products let parents share what they love with their kids, and we know how much some of you miss that smooth, freeing glide across the pavement. Walking is so 2013.
Is it a bike with a stroller, or a stroller that’s a bike? A broller? A strollcycle? Ride your bike-stroller to the farmer’s market, mall or ComiCon (whatever you’re into) and then morph it into a push stroller.
If your gym doesn’t have daycare, eliminating two bills in one may just cover the cost of this lean green baby-carrying machine.

What?!? A stroller that turns into a backpack?
While we can’t really help you reduce the incomprehensible amount of stuff you need to carry around with you when you travel with little ones, we can help you find some cool products to make lugging the family around a little easier.
This stroller folds compactly so you can slap it on your back and properly chase after runaway toddlers.
Origami Power Folding Stroller
I’m sure whoever was in charge of marketing this thing had a really tough time picking just one feature to highlight in the title of the product. It does have a power folding feature: push a button and it folds itself right up, just like…wait for it…
…origami.
But that’s not even the coolest part. I mean, it’s certainly the most practical part, but the coolest?
I’d have to go with this stroller’s ability to charge your phone (or other device) using wheel friction. My phone is always dead. In fact, it’s dead right now. The second coolest feature is a little tougher to decide on. Is it the running and pathway lights? Or the LCD display? Either way, we heart gadgets, but more importantly: so do our friends. Ease of living plus friend envy factor?
Worth it.
