Nerdy Kids’ Boots for Fall
We’re just dipped our toes into the fall, and I’m already trying to grab as much of it as I possibly can. I just wish I could bottle it and keep it all year long. An uncomfortably hot summer has finally broken into chilly mornings just perfect for swaddling ourselves in sweaters, comfy pants and boots.
Last week, the joy in my heart when I pulled on my friendly old Ugg boots for the first time since last fall made me want to take a peek at what’s new in nerdy kid’s boots. From fashion nerds to mini-superheroes, we can probably all agree that boots kick the crap out of any other type of shoe.
Heidi Louise Bootmaker on Etsy has some funky, artsy ALMOST too cool for school handmade boots that are just right for artsy nerds who just can’t bear the thought of another black or brown boot.
If the leather in these boots isn’t really your thing, there are plenty of awesome funky vegan shoe options out there as well. These Dansko frog-patterned rainboots carry the seal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, have non-slip soles, and were made using no animal products whatsoever.
The Secret Door.co company out of Australia that aims to create well-made rainboots with the smallest possible impact on the environment. The result is their Timber and Tamber line, each featuring stylish, glossy colors, optional french bows in the back, and a removable sole that makes the size adjustable by a 1/2 size for growing feeties. They come in a reusable canvas bag to help reduce waste.
This great Doc Marten boot features the UK’s version of Dennis the Menace and his wire-haired companion Gnasher. The classic comic has been running since 1951, earning its place on the tall sides of these kid versions of the unofficial boots of punk.
Of course, we’re not going to leave you without a pair of Batman boots. These Croc rainboots (pictured above) feature a splash of a an image of Batman looking like just he does in the comics. The great pull-on handles help save precious seconds as your kids fly out the door in the morning. Crocs also makes an adorable LEGO rainboot for kids.
