Love 1 Love

If you’re like me your mental picture of literary characters inadvertently changes as soon as you see the motion picture adaptation. Harry Potter is Daniel Radcliffe. Katniss Everdeen is Jennifer Lawrence. Ian McKellen is Gandalf, shouting “You shall not pass!” with “Requiem for a Dream” pounding in the background of a Lord of the Rings super trailer. Most recently, McKellen reprised the role in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and will again in its upcoming sequels.
But if your love for Gandalf predates the Peter Jackson movies, you won’t be disappointed that this 7” plush likeness, although inspired by said Hobbit movie, recalls the character more than the actor, albeit with plenty of added cute factor. (It’s the lack of nose, I think. A noseless Ian McKellen just isn’t Ian McKellen.) And if you do want the movie Gandalf, his signature staff and his magical sword, Glamdring, resemble their big screen counterparts – and help distinguish him from other well-known aged wizards like Dumbledore. That makes for a happy compromise for Grey Wizard fans young in years (as little as three) and young at heart! Oh, and if he’s temporarily out of stock, just remember that a wizard is never late, nor is he early; he arrives precisely when he means to!
